Danica Patrick achieved remarkable success in her NASCAR and IndyCar career. Now that she has retired, she is exploring a new sport.
The 42-year-old recently announced that she has begun taking tennis lessons. Patrick mentioned that her shift to this new sport focuses on the potential long-term health advantages.
In 2018, Forbes highlighted a study from Denmark, which found that people who regularly engage in racket sports might live longer. The study states, “All racket sports—along with active sports like basketball and soccer—are thought to help increase lifespan, but tennis stands out the most.”
Patrick shared a video on her social media, discussing the possible benefits of playing racket sports.
“This is why I’m taking tennis lessons,” she wrote in her Instagram story.
In another recent post, Patrick shared that she became interested in golf about two years ago. She said, “I decided to learn how to play golf about 2 years ago. It’s a bit seasonal, mostly due to the heat in Arizona, but also because of work and skiing! Last fall, I thought I had it all figured out, but then I forgot how to hit my driver at the start of the year… Until about 10 days ago when I suddenly remembered just as mysteriously as I had forgotten,” she wrote on Instagram.
Patrick is the most accomplished woman in the history of auto racing. She made history by being the first female driver to win a pole position in the NASCAR Cup Series, which is NASCAR’s top level. She retired in 2018.
